If your reading this you are probably thinking about booking a newborn session or you have booked one and would now like to know a bit more about it!
Firstly your decision to have a session with me or any photographer should be one you feel happy about.
Lots of new mums can feel very anxious about the idea of venturing to me when their baby is still so tiny.
It can certainly feel daunting! wondering if your baby will perform or if this is the day they're going to cry and not sleep!
Wondering if you're going to feel comfortable handing
your new baby over to a stranger. All totally normal!
So How does it work?
Lets start from the begininng!
So you've booked in, You've had your new precious bundle and he or she is around 7 to 10 days old. Its time for your session.
My sessions mostly start at 10 am. So I ask you to arrive for this time and preferably have baby ready and due for a feed.
We start by stripping him or her off to their nappy, wrapping in a cosy blanket and then giving them a nice big feed.
Meanwhile I make you a nice hot cuppa while you relax on the sofa in the studio! Sound good so far?
Once baby is fed and all sleepy and even if he isn't! I will then take him from you over to my beanbag which is warm and cosy. I may start off by wrapping him for his first few shots. This is like a swaddle and usually settles them nicely.
I have white noise playing and the warm heater to the side of me so they usually fall off to sleep pretty quickly. when they don't I make the most of their open eyes and get some nice shots of them hopefully glaring at me!
The session then continues with various poses that we will have discussed. I usually try and do a variation of poses on the beanbag and then we move onto props if you've requested them and we do a couple of those.
Then at the end of the session we aim to get the all important family images.
I know you won't be feeling your best! You're tired and probably uncomfortable but they are so important!
These images are not for you!
Well they are!! but really they are for your child! So that in later years your child has these images for them! When we lose a parent the first thing we do is look for images of them! we especially look for images of them with us! If we keep hitting delete or shying away from the camera what will they have of you?
The session is on average between 2.5 - 3 hours long. The studio is located near lots of places to go and gran a coffee or some lunch and you are welcome to bring it back tot he studio.
Once the session is done you will leave hopefully feeling relaxed and happy that you've managed to catch up on some emails and messages and I will then edit your gallery for you!
This process is up to two weeks.
Once your gallery is ready I will ask you to both come back in for a viewing appointment and this is where you will choose which package you would like.
I hope that's answered a few questions for you! If you have any more questions feel free to leave me a question in the comments :) Or email me directly at

Look forward to seeing you soon.
